Two 12-storey apartment buildings will be constructed on Clarington Boulevard in Bowmanville. Kaitlin Corporation received site plan approval on Wednesday, July 14.

Just the facts:

• The apartment buildings will consist of a total of 440 apartments – a mix of studios, one, two and three bedroom units.

• Parking for residents and visitors will be provided at ground level and underground.

• The buildings will include an indoor fitness center, yoga room, entertainment and party room, rooftop terrace and rooftop lounge.

• The condominium apartment buildings will be constructed at 51-55 Clarington Boulevard, just west of the Seasons retiree community.

• An earlier plan proposed two six-storey apartment buildings. This plan was revised in 2018, as Clarington and the developer discussed possibilities for higher densities in the neighborhood due to the future Bowmanville GO train station.

• The site is close to the Durham Region Transit stop, the planned Bowmanville GO station and the commercial / retail plaza in West Bowmanville. The majority of the area (the urban center of Bowmanville West) has been designated for high density development, allowing up to 12 stories.

• Units will range in size from 588 square feet to 1,132 square feet and start at $ 500,000, according to the developer website modocondos.com.

• Residents are expected to be able to move in by May 2024.
