Two coronavirus outbreaks reported in Boulder County assisted living facilities

Two coronavirus outbreaks have recently been reported in Boulder County assisted living facilities.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment releases its data on the COVID-19 outbreak every Wednesday.

A COVID-19 outbreak was determined Nov. 12 at Accel in Longmont. These were three personnel cases, according to the CDPHE.

Stephanie Ward, the facility’s director of digital marketing, said only two staff cases have been determined and reported to the state.

She said the cases were first determined on November 9 during routine testing. Both staff members were fully vaccinated against the virus before testing positive and no new cases have been determined since, Ward said.

Longmont’s Accel has already had three outbreaks of COVID-19, according to state reports.

The first was determined on November 18, 2020 and involved 17 resident cases, 28 staff cases and two resident deaths. The outbreak was resolved on January 29.

The second outbreak was determined on February 19 and involved one resident case and two staff cases, according to CDPHE data. The outbreak was resolved on March 16.

The third outbreak of COVID-19 was determined on May 4 and involved two staff cases. It was resolved on May 21.

The second recent outbreak of COVID-19 was determined at Balfour in Cherrywood Village in Louisville on November 22. It involved one resident case, two staff cases and one resident death, according to state data.

Officials with Ease did not respond to requests for comment ahead of Monday’s release.

This is the second outbreak of COVID-19 reported by the state at Balfour in Cherrywood Village. The first outbreak was determined on November 10, 2020. It involved 26 resident cases, six staff cases and seven resident deaths, according to CDPHE data. It was resolved on January 19.

The COVID-19 outbreak at Waneka Park, officially known as The Legacy Assisted Living in Lafayette, was resolved Nov. 9 and involved five resident cases and three staff cases, according to CDPHE data. When the outbreak was initially reported by the state on Oct. 26, it involved four resident cases and three staff cases.
