Two new apartment buildings with a total of 166 units are planned for Abbotsford on Tims Avenue and Mt. Waddington Avenue near Town Hall.
City Council gave the first three readings Monday (September 27) of bylaw changes, including rezoning, that will allow projects to continue, with final adoption expected shortly.
The six-story complex at 32129 and 32143/32145 Tims Avenue has 72 units – seven studios, 35 one-bedroom suites, and 30 two-bedroom suites.
Units vary in size from 400 to 851 square feet.
The applicant, Flat Architecture Inc., will be required to pay $ 10,000 for a full traffic light at George Ferguson Way and Tims Street.
The company must also ensure that the units are provided on lease for at least 10 years.
The five-story development at 32137, 32147 and 32157 Mt. Waddington Ave. consists of 94 units – 63 two-bedroom suites (including one-bedroom units with a den) and 31 three-bedroom units (including two-bedroom suites with a den).
The applicant, a registered business, must contribute $ 15,000 to the traffic light in George Ferguson and Tims.
The Board approved the first three readings of the two drafts without discussion. There was no submission for a public hearing that would have followed the first two readings.
