Overview
The Facilities Management Division is seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician position provides a variety of special maintenance, service and repair duties including painting, carpentry, minor electrical, drywall, plumbing and minor HVAC repairs for the purpose of maintain and repair county facility buildings. Representative functions
Checks and maintains assigned facilities, equipment or systems for preventive maintenance and critical operating factors.
Using a variety of tools, test and calibration equipment, applies accepted maintenance, service and repair procedures to maintain or restore the item to proper operating condition.
Modifies or replaces components as necessary.
Consults employees or supervisor of specific trades on special maintenance and repair problems.
Performs maintenance and minor repairs on a wide variety of equipment.
Multi-business missions and responsibilities based on daily operational needs.
Performs all other related work as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in special maintenance, service, repair duties of plumbing systems, building envelope, mechanical and/or HVAC equipment and electrical systems. Additional years of specified experience may be substituted for required education on a year-to-year basis.
Must possess a valid Florida Class E driver’s license on date of hire.
May be required to perform mandatory duty in case of emergency.
Preferences
General knowledge of building maintenance (ie maintenance of apartment complexes).
Ability to learn and willingness to be trained and/or obtain training in specialized areas.
Basic skills such as electricity, mechanics, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
Must be prepared to be dispatched on routine calls (i.e. changing lights, outlets, switch plates, HVAC filters; unenclosed toilets, etc.) and assisting qualified personnel if needed.
Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends, holidays, shifts, availability and overtime due to operational requirements.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team.
May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid commercial driver’s license for the type of equipment used.

REMARK:

Standard business hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Business hours may include weekends, after hours, and after hurricanes due to operational requirements.
This position can be assigned to any facilities management location due to project, task or operational requirements.
